Ancient Lights
Let us not squander the hours that are left
Under the bruised clot of night, as the sun etches its exit
Let us count the reasons for this inefficient glow
The hand that forbids, a levy spares the coffers pilfer
(They say)
“Oh no here we go, another sobbing story
The wretches seek the light like inverted pestilence
Mark the tithe and punch the card that hold the meters hand
They’ll huddle round clock as it ticks away their lives”
Static sedentary face
A starving child, a missing meal
A stomach hewn in pain, the suffered pawl
Lip service sloughed off like used skin
Jingoistic serenades are whistled shrill
Pander to the rabid, to the abandoned, to the ill
Blame the cost of living on all but government
Whilst the crops lie rotting and the pounds stick thin
Catastrophe rebranded as the great leveller
Didn’t you know the food banks have always been there?
And the fuel companies have always paid their share?
Where have you been living peasant, supplicant, WHERE?
Cue the propaganda ads
They’ll blame the poor, they always have
The non existent queues of immigrants
A fabricated lie, a nebulous threat!
Rouge faces of the sanguinated
‘Poors' and ‘pities’ ejaculated
In the place of the remotely effective
Their sycophants stand erected

But what about the children?
It's all so inconvenient (for you)
Melee of toxic aspiration
Lets not think of the kiddies
And the hell-scape they’ll inherit
Hypoxic dead seas,
Neutron bomb hyperbole
Scoffing at the snowflakes
As the sea creeps up your knees
Maybe you’re being coquettish
Flirting with our final kiss
Shale gas, oil rich, neonicotinoids,
Perish the thought of your diminished returns
“But the children are so feeble
Raised by these left wing liberals
But they’ll grow thicker skins
In the irradiated wastes”
Did you really dismiss the end of all
By saying they should suck it up?
Has your brain so far eroded
From the human it once was?
The children are your future
Not your straw man argument
You’re obsequious ouroboros
Wyrm of sick intention
Selfish acts of wanton greed
Rig the system for the elite
System, system
Cunning acts of deception
System system
The one percent sadist erection
Eviscerate the system!
The Sovereign Individual
Is kindling, with the Eton bill
And your dreams of avarice will be as rare
As your fucking income tax
Mummy, daddy, you are rich,
Why did you let the planet perish?
Did you see the caustic run off
And the climates colic cry?

A Forbidding Squall
01:38
|
|||
A Forbidding squall
Black smoke rose over the moorland scrub
I’ve a feeling this an omen of menaces to come
A family who have fled the travesties of war
Asylum has been offered, then rescinded, out the door
The streets are no home for a child and their mother
But we don’t want them there - so lets ship them back over
They’ve served their purpose, a vague nod of compassion
We got the B role now lets stick them in detention
The black smoke rose over stained perdition
shirked responsibility of the bombs that we commissioned
We’ve shaken hands with Lockheed Martin
Drooled de-escalation to the Guardian
The black smoke is cloying, its gone up our noses
Its the guilt you see, clogging up our composure
The black smoke, organo-phosphorus
It’ll eventually choke the light from all of us.

Toxic Shock Syndrome
02:06
|
|||
Toxic shock syndrome
We do not have the tools
With which to communicate
These feelings of duress
Self flagellating and innate
It's a cry for help
An aberration of neglect
That manifests itself
As anger and discontent
Starving for love
Inherited crossed wires
Machismo is a malformation
Ectopia cordis
The heart belongs inside
Will shrivel and blacken
Without lungs to breath
These emotions into words
Violence is no substitute
For feelings inadequate
Misogyny a vile flex
Projection in full effect
Starving for love
Inherited crossed wires
Machismo is a malformation
Ectopia cordis
Everyone everyone can love
Everyone can love!
Mentality of fear
Social entropy
The shuffle for the top
Theatre of masculinity
I can see exhaustion
In the need for this charade
That bravado is a costume
Old and worn and frayed

Ghost Watch

|

Ghost watch
It is in this house
That he reels
A rage that foments
His many ills
A man bereft
Of life in death
And a glut of anger
Mismanagement
Stubborn denial
Stale sweat yellow
Only this man
Can feel this hell
The bruised ego
With which he commits
To enact his own
Eminence
It is in this house
Always punched down
To level up
But no clenched
Jaw is ever enough
You cannot subsist
On a diet of pride
And a thousand excuses
For past transgressions
His heart failed him
His wife and kids have moved on
And so he haunts this house
The Corpse equivalent of dry rot
It is in this house

Seen But Absent
02:30
|
|||
Seen and absent
I have held a sadness,
In your absence
I have felt your presence
In empty spaces
You are living,
Not too far from me
A gulf of feeling
Rather than distance
It is gut deep,
Viscera red
A pain I have
Wanted to be rid of
I dismiss it,
Kick the can
Let another
Year span
Insurmountable
A willingness
To engage
Communicate grief
I don’t think you are
Capable of
Comprehending
We are locked in tandem
It is gut deep,
Viscera red
A pain I have
Wanted to be rid of
I dismiss it,
Kick the can
Let another
Year span
However old,
I am still your child
Fallen far short
Of your expectations
You once said
Perhaps in jest,
‘I never wanted kids
And now I have three.’

Spite Wall
04:54
|
|||
Spite wall
Trade blocs
Raising stocks
Interest rates of
Ruling toffs
Thinly veiled
Short options
Disaster capitalists
Scarfing down
Spite wall, spiteful
Cut your nose off
To spite your face!
Here a wall, there a wall, everywhere a wall wall!
Five foot, ten foot, twenty foot wall
Build a wall around the ports,
Build a wall around your house
Build a wall around your heart!
Borders, Brexit
Its all a bunch of bullshit
Blinkered nationalists
Pulling up the draw bridge
Sunny upland terrorists
Seventies concrete fetishists
Gangrenous social deprivation not
Cups of tea and bowling greens
Spite wall, spiteful
Cut your nose off
To spite your face
Here a wall, there a wall, everywhere a wall wall!
Five foot, ten foot, twenty foot wall
Build a wall around the ports,
Build a wall around your house
Build a wall around your heart
Spite wall!
Cold comfort zone
White bread Milquetoast
Pallid bland and cultureless
Our unfair anaemic land
Isolation,
Deprivation
Generational
Starvation
Spite wall, spiteful
Cut your nose off
To spite your face!
Here a wall, there a wall, everywhere a wall wall!
Five foot, ten foot, twenty foot wall
Build a wall around the ports,
Build a wall around your house
Build a wall around your heart
Spite wall
Guarantee your future
Undernourished Petri dish
Incoherent,
Dialect intolerant
Illiberal agenda
World ender
Spite wall, spiteful
Cut your nose off
To spite your face!
Here a wall, there a wall, everywhere a wall wall!
Five foot, ten foot, twenty foot wall
Build a wall around the ports,
Build a wall around your house
Build a wall around your heart
Spite wall!
